October 2007- The treehouse & picnic table!

These pictures are from when Dave and Tiffany came to Utah (instead of CA during the fires) and built up grandma and grandpa's treehouse and made a new picnic table. I think the guys had a lot of fun with all the power tools!

The finished treehouse- the girls had fun painting the outside and inside of house! All the girls on top of the treehouse. Kylie painting the inside of the house... again.Working on the picnic table. How many people does it take to put together the huge picnic table?

Leroy and Kevin finishing the table.
The finished product...
Satisfied with their work...

This IS a Great Idea...

Good job, Katie!

Happy Birthday!

Good Idea

What a good idea! Last week I found out Katie has a blog. Then Kevin gets a blog and THEN I find that David has a myspace page! This will be a great way for us to stay in touch. I loved the slideshow Katie. Good job at pulling this together.
Ok, so I will give this posting thing a whirl. News from our family. Carl is home! That is always a great statement. He is home until January 24th. Then he will go out for 4 months. It will be a very exciting tour for him. (or maybe I should say vacation) He is going to Alaska, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Hawaii, Guam. I think that is most of them. The way the cruise is set up they will hit a port every 2 weeks. Carl is excited about the ports.
Braden is growing and growing. To say he can walk would be an understatement...that boy runs. It was fun to see him recognize his Uncle Kevin last week. Austin is so big and losing teeth. Braden is getting them in and Austin is making a fortune from the tooth fairy.
Well I think I have "blogged" enough. Braden is emptying out my kitchen cupboard. I look forward to reading each or your blogs. Congrats to Kevin on winning the dutch oven cooking contest. We were impressed. And of course congrats to Katie and Marc for having a baby. She is so dang cute. WE love you guys.

Katie's Family-November

Dear Family-

So there might be other news to report , but really, this is what has taken over our lives:

Little Lucy Kay was born 11/7/07, at 2:11 PM, weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces (are you detecting a theme here??). She was 18 ½ inches long and was born at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo. She was named after her Grandma’s nicknames: Katie’s bone structure and family history led us to the conclusion that a c-section was imminent. Needless to say, we are now big fans of the process! The c-section was scheduled the day before, so we knew right when to come in, which led to a peaceful morning of going on a walk, showering, and packing the car in a leisurely manner before heading off to the hospital with Katie’s parents, and Marc's Mom met us there. We got checked in without hassle and waited for the surgery with the above-mentioned parents there as Katie was prepped. The surgery went very well, and Lucy was born nice and healthy, with only a few minor struggles catching her breath. She spent a few hours in the Newborn ICU, and then she was ours to hold! Her birth was a very spiritual experience, and we were overcome with gratitude throughout this whole process.

While in the hospital we had lots of visitors, and made lots of phone calls to important people. We felt like it was Christmas, but only better! The biggest highlight was when Kristi and her family surprised us by driving all the way out from San Diego. We were all a bit teary eyed with that. Hailey and Melia got to hear her cry and it was fun to tell them all about their new baby sister. We think she resembles them a lot, and we’re excited for our whole family to be together at Christmas time! It was fun to hear about Hailey’s teenage adventures of going to concerts and dances (Paramore rocks!), and to listen about Melia’s adventures at junior high as we contrasted their lives to that of the infant in our arms. It’s amazing how quickly they grow up!

We came home from the hospital on Saturday (11/10/07). It is sooo nice to be home! We love being a family and how could we resist throwing in this one last picture?

Here’s Lucy in her Sunday dress (thanks to Grandma), on her first Sunday in this world:

We love you all and cannot wait for you to meet our newest daughter.

Love,
Marc, Katie, Hailey, Melia, and Lucy
